In hard times, a strong brand is probably one of the most precious assets for any business. For Sublimio, creating strong brands is a mission.

Times are tough, we don’t probably need to convince anyone of that. Times are especially tough for businesses, that have to deal with financial pressures, new competitors, tech shifts, and global uncertainty.

At Sublimio, we believe strong brands are needed now more than ever.

What is a strong brand? Simply put, it’s a brand that has been built on solid strategic foundations. This means asking the hard questions, facing the biggest challenges head-on and ensuring that every choice you make has a meaning.

Sometimes, this takes some tough talk. As a boutique agency, we need to be very upfront with our clients, even about their business vision: creating a pretty image based on rosy assumptions is far too easy, but it’s not what a business needs. This may have cost us some opportunities, but it has gained us some of our most prized long-term collaborations.

Creating a strong brand can take some tough talk.

“Why all the fuss?” you might think. Shouldn’t you stick to creating a nice identity?

Well, no. For us, the brand is one of your most precious business tools and in the long term, it will become an asset with its own value.

Creating a unique, fascinating visual and verbal identity is essential for success – we love to do it – but it has to be your second step, not your first. Fascination alone is short-lived and a strong business should be in the market for the long run.

Real people are worried or interested in many things today, but almost none of them are brands, no matter how cute-looking. They will only listen to you if you make sense to them. That’s what a strong brand is, after all: meaning.

If you want to create one togetherlet’s talk.

How to Brief Your Branding Agency

4 MIN. READ

Branding can take you anywhere, but do you know where you are headed? Here are some tips on how to brief your branding agency right.

SUMO is one of the few newsletters I don’t archive when my inbox gets full. Each edition feels crafted with care - the links are genuinely interesting, the curation is thoughtful, and the newsletter design itself is a delight to consume.

Rob Hope 🇿🇦 One Page Love, founder

Content curation at its finest. Doesn't overdo it on commentary, and has probably the highest signal-to-noise ratio among the design newsletters out there. Never a dull entry! Every issue feels handpicked rather than churned out.

Carlo Mallone 🇮🇹 Arxax, founder

Sublimio Monthly is always a breath of fresh air. I especially like how each issue explores one timely theme, turning Andrea and Matteo’s perspectives into a clear takeaway I can immediately apply to my work—often before the topic becomes mainstream.

Pasquale Borriello 🇮🇹 Arkage, founder

You know that feeling as a kid, waiting for your favorite magazine to hit the stands? That's what SUMO is for me.

Andrea Indini 🇮🇹 Angelini Design, creative director

SUMO is much more than a newsletter: it's a guide. In a world of information overload, having someone who does real curation work is invaluable. What I find there is always worth my time. I read it eagerly every time, and I often share it with friends and colleagues because there's always something useful and genuinely interesting.

Alexandre Reibaldi 🇧🇷 CTRL+D, founder

SUMO has a level of intentionality that sets it apart from most newsletters I read. Each edition is built around a theme that feels considered without being overworked, with Matteo and Andrea’s dual perspectives adding depth and a set of curated links that feel carefully chosen. It’s a newsletter worth reading properly.

Carl Barenbrug 🇬🇧 Minimalissimo, founder

SUMO has quickly become one of my favourite newsletters. Every issue leaves me with a fresh perspective on how I see my brand and the world around it.
